In 2023 year December 8. Faculty of Civil Engineering faculty members go on an educational trip. During the visit they visited the Municipal Company Šiauliai Airport (Lakūnų g. 4, Šiauliai), which has been granted the right by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania to provide civil transport services at Šiauliai Military Aerodrome: the company provides ground handling of aircraft, passengers and cargo, land lease, and other services at the Šiauliai International Military Airport EYSA/SQQ. Specially trained staff and equipment are available to receive and handle a wide range of cargo, from standard cargo to oversized, high-value and military cargo. It is also the only airport in the Baltic region that handles air exports of animals.

The participants of the educational excursion got acquainted with the main aims and objectives of the company, cargo handling and passenger services: border inspection post, customs post, customs warehouse, phytosanitary inspection post, etc. The lecturers discussed various issues with the company’s director, visited the aircraft repair hangars, inspected the main runway and the airplanes at the airport, which are handled by such companies as North Airlines, Volga Dnepr Airlines, Kalita Air, EL AL Cargo, MNG Airlines, Cavok Air.
