On 18 April 2023, the participants of the international ERASMUS+ Combined Intensive Programme “Green Business Idea” took part in an educational trip to the company “Sluoksniai” (Commune DIY, Savanorių st. 176C, Vilnius), a pioneer in the recycling of skateboards in the Baltics, which is a company that is engaged in the recycling of a large quantity of raw materials.
During the educational trip, the students were introduced to the company, which pursues one mission through various activities – to promote skateboarding in Lithuania, to make it as accessible as possible for everyone, while at the same time not forgetting sustainability principles.
The company’s CEO Simonas Sonkinas informed the participants about the history of skateboards, their production, their life cycle and recycling possibilities. The students had the opportunity to observe up close how broken skateboards are transformed into new products that will last for many years to come, and to make souvenirs from skateboard waste. Participants in the Mixed Intensive Programme (MIP) learned how business can address environmental issues, create environmentally friendly values and promote sustainable lifestyles, with a particular focus on the correct management of waste in communities.
