18 April 2024 The 8th International Scientific and Practical Conference “Aspects of Sustainable Development: theory and practice” was held at Utena College.
The conference featured 56 presentations on a wide range of topics: regional and international partnerships between education, science and business, environmental sustainability and human well-being and social responsibility, environmental sustainability, and technologies for a sustainable modern society.
The conference was divided into 7 different sections, where presentations were given by students and lecturers from Klaipėda, Kaunas, Vilnius colleges and Vytautas Magnus University. Teachers and students from Poland, Latvia and Portugal also participated in the conference and gave presentations.
In the section “Regional and International Partnership between Education, Science and Business”, the presentation “Efficient Heating Solutions for Renovation of Residential Buildings” was given by the lecturer of the Faculty of Construction Rūta Bilinskienė and the lecturer Andrius Timofejevas.
In the section “Environmental Sustainability”, presentations were given remotely by the students of the second year of the College’s Faculty of Civil Engineering’s Civil Engineering programme: Aurimas Krivickas, Adomas Mechovičius and Aleksandras Andžejauskas gave a presentation on the “Research on the use of industrial waste in concrete mixes”, and Raimondas Vitkevičius and Oleg Malinovskis presented a presentation on the “Sustainable reuse of waste in concrete products”. The students’ research was supervised by Dr. Marija Vaičienė, Associate Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering.
