On 16 May 2024, four student teams from the Faculty of Civil Engineering (“Nekabink pasta”, “Statybininkai”, “Pasta aces” and “Pasta della casa”) took part in the final event of the 11th national championship “Pasta Bridges 2024”, organised by VILNIUS TECH (Vilnius Gediminas Technical University).

22 teams from Lithuanian schools, gymnasiums and higher education institutions competed in the finals. The event tested bridges made of different types of pasta in different constructions.

Students of the College’s Construction and Structural Engineering Systems study programmes, supervised by lecturer Anna Glinskienė, Dr. Eugenijus Gudonis and Dr. Marija Vaičienė, constructed 1 metre span bridges. The championship participants used only conventional pasta and glue to build their bridges. The total weight of the bridge had to be no more than 1 kilogram. The bridges constructed by the students of the College’s Faculty of Civil Engineering withstood loads of 29 kg, 20.7 kg, 4.1 kg and 3 kg!
