On 2 May 2024, the international CIP project “The robots intellect: balancing robot” was presented at the Faculty of Engineering. Six student teams from Vilnius College of Technology and Design (Lithuania), Tallinn University of Applied Sciences (Estonia) and Braganza Polytechnic Institute (Portugal) presented the robots they have developed. The project focused on the design of a balancing robot – an inverted pendulum system. The main components include a 3D modelled mechanical design, electronics integration with an ATmega328 microcontroller, PID control for stability, wireless communication via Bluetooth and a graphical user interface for real-time control. During the presentations, students shared their experiences, discussed the challenges they faced, had active discussions on relevant topics and had the opportunity to vote and choose the best robot that met all the requirements.
