  • Experiential learning gained through unpaid or voluntary work;

  • non-certified learning acquired through self-study;
  • certified learning abroad (traineeships, courses);
  • certified work-based learning.
Stages in the assessment and recognition of competences acquired in non-formal adult education: Outreach. The candidate is informed about the principles of assessment, the procedure, the conditions for assessment, the possible results of the assessment, and the study options available to meet individual needs. The candidate decides to participate in the procedure for the assessment and recognition of competences acquired in non-formal adult education.
  1. Advice. The candidate is given an initial consultation, and further consultations are given according to the candidate’s needs during the semester. The Head of Department will advise the candidate on the preparation of the competency folder, check its content and provide information necessary for the examination.
  2. Competence assessment. Competence assessment is carried out by the Competence Assessment and Recognition Board on the basis of a competency folder or examination. For this purpose, evidence of the competences acquired by the candidate in the non-formal adult education system is analysed. If the data in the competences folder only partially substantiate the compliance of the existing competences with the requirements of the subject study programme or part thereof, the Competences Assessment and Recognition Board decides what will be assessed additionally and which methods will be used, if necessary, allocates additional time for preparation, fixes the date of the assessment, and informs the candidate thereof.
  3. Decision-making (evaluation). The decision on the competences to be recognised and/or the subjects or modules to be credited shall be taken by the Competence Assessment and Recognition Board. It shall determine whether the evidence provided by the candidate is sufficient to justify the competences he/she has acquired and/or which subjects or modules are creditable. The Competence Assessment and Recognition Board shall determine the correspondence between the competences acquired by the candidate in the non-formal adult education system and the learning outcomes, and the extent of this correspondence. The Competence Assessment and Recognition Board shall record its findings and proposals for recognition in the minutes and in the Competence Assessment Board’s report card, and submit them to the Dean of the relevant Faculty of the College or his/her authorised representative for approval. The competences shall be assessed and a certain number of credits (up to 75 % of the study programme) shall be recognised.
