30 April 2024 The Faculty of Technology of Vilnius College of Technology and Design hosted the Republican Competition “The Best Young Car Driver” for the Juozas Algimantas Valatka Transitional Cup. Dr Gražina Strazdienė, Dean of the Faculty of Technology of Vilnius College of Technology and Design, welcomed the participants and guests. 5 teams from Vilnius College of Technology and Design, Kaunas Technical College, Klaipėda State College, Šiauliai State College, Alytus College participated. The teams presented their homework, i.e. products made from vehicle parts. The best product was a sports car designed by the students of Klaipėda State College. The participants tried their hand at a road traffic rules test, a quiz on the structure of cars on the Kahoot platform, technical measurements of engine parts, identification of operating fluids, and economics problems. The fastest lap was the most emotional challenge with a car simulator. Vilius Dabrila (Kaunas Technical College) was the fastest in the personal standings, Rokas Ciesiūnas (Vilnius College of Technology and Design) came second, and Gabrielius Kačinskas (Šiauliai State College) came third.

The competition was won by the team of Vilnius College of Technology and Design, the second place was taken by the team of Šiauliai State College, and the third place went to the team of Kaunas Technical College. The winners were congratulated by the Director of Vilnius College of Technology and Design Dr. Rolandas Vitkūnas and awarded with valuable prizes and cash prizes established by the sponsors UAB “Melga”, UAB “InterCars Lietuva”, UAB “InterCars Lietuva”, UAB “Toyota Baltic AS”, UAB “Jupojos technika” and the Association of Transport Engineering Lecturers.
