New students and pupils, distinguished guests, lecturers and administrative staff gathered in the central courtyard of Vilnius College of Technology and Design in the Great Hall of Acts to celebrate the beginning of the new study and academic year.

The celebration started with a performance by the instrumental music group SUBTILUS. The host of the event welcomed all the participants and expressed his happiness that the guests of honour had come today to congratulate them on their new beginning. PhD Rolandas Vitkūnas, Director of the VTDK, wished the new members of the community success in their studies and research.

After the Principal’s greetings, the traditional student anthem Gaudeamus was sung to officially announce the opening of the new academic year.

Also present at the celebration were Virginijus Ramanauskas, CEO of PERI, Chairman of the Council of the Lithuanian Construction Association Dalius Gedvilas, President of the Association of Lithuanian Builders, Arūnas Indrašius, CEO of TOKS, Irena Balkūnė, Director of People and Culture of Lithuanian Railways AB, who also gave their sincere greetings. Domantas Milašius, representative of the VTDK Students’ Representation, also congratulated the students.

The participants were pleasantly surprised when, right after the welcoming speeches, the instrumental music group SUBTILUS reappeared on the stage and performed two songs. In a festive and uplifting mood, students and pupils rushed to the classrooms where they met with faculty administrators and lecturers.
