The Vocational Training Department of the Vilnius College of Technology and Design together with the Riga State Technical School implemented the Nordplus project “HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT IN RAILWAY TRANSPORT SECTOR, No. NPAD-2020/10231”.
As part of Nordplus project, 10 vocational teachers and administrative staff from the Vocational Training Department of the Vilnius College of Technology and Design, who organise and deliver vocational training, visited the Riga State Technical School from 25 to 29 April 2022, and from 24 to 28 October 2022 the Vilnius College of Technology and Design organised a visit of project’s partners from the Riga State Technical School (10 vocational teachers and administrative staff) to companies in the Lithuanian railway transport sector.
The participants got acquainted with the training of railway specialists, the implemented vocational training programmes and training facilities, visited railway transport companies in the project partner countries and had the opportunity to get a closer look at the specificities of the railway sector, the companies development opportunities, the needs of professionals and requirements for their education and qualifications.
For the smooth implementation of the project, there was constant electronic communication with the project managers.
The successful implementation of the Nordplus project “Human Resource Management in the Railway Transport Sector” has led to the sharing of good practices through videos, flyers and posters.
Based on the knowledge, experience, insights and reflections shared by the project participants on the future of railway transport and the competences of professionals trained for this sector, The Vocational Training Department of the Vilnius College of Technology and Design has developed a module on Human Resource Management, which has been integrated into the modular vocational training programme for train drivers.
