In 2023 year December 12 d. 1st and 3rd year full-time students of the Transport Logistics study programme attended a public lecture on “Container Terminal Operations” by Dr Serkan Karak, lecturer at Istanbul Bilgi University.

The lecture provided students with theoretical and practical material on container terminals. Using visual material, the lecturer, Dr Serkan Karak, described the handling equipment and machinery used in the terminals, explaining in detail the main differences between them, and explaining which machinery or equipment is used for one process or another. The lecturer gave a number of practical examples of container ship planning, where several different loading and unloading ports, different container volumes and different container dimensions are considered in the planning. Dr Serkan Karak shared his success story as a container terminal planning manager. The guest also made proposals for cooperation and Erasmus+ study.

Students will be able to apply the knowledge gained in a public lecture by an Istanbul Bilgi University lecturer to their practical, independent and final theses.
