The President of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda presented an award for the best dissertation in the field of technology to PhD Donatas Kriaučiūnas, associate professor at Vilnius College of Technologies and Design (VTDK).
This year, 108 dissertations were submitted to the seventeenth annual Best Dissertation Competition. 64 of these were in the fields of science, technology, medicine and health and agriculture, and 44 in the social sciences, humanities and arts. 12 young scientists have been recognised as laureates.
PhD D. Kriaučiūnas received an award for his dissertation “Improvement of ecological and energy performance of a bio-gas spark ignition engine”. The scientific supervisor of this dissertation is Associate Professor PhD Saugirdas Pukalskas.
“It’s great to be appreciated. It confirms that the work I have done has been planned and executed properly not only at the University but also in Lithuania. Since this is an evaluation of last year’s work, it puts a kind of pressure on the new research and work to be of the same level as the dissertation,” says the laureate PhD D. Kriaučiūnas.
All 12 laureates received letters of congratulations from the President. The winners of the nominations also received a special gift from the President – a collection of the first Lithuanian monthly newspaper “Aušra” (1883-1886), which was donated on the initiative of the Head of State.
We warmly congratulate PhD D. Kriaučiūnas on his extraordinary award!
